Frequently asked questions

What is a good profit margin for Amazon FBA?
Many experienced sellers target 25–40% net margin after all Amazon fees, COGS and ad spend. Below ~15%, a single fee increase or PPC spike can wipe out profit. Use the calculator to test your price against fee changes.
Does the referral fee apply to FBM sellers too?
Yes. The referral fee is Amazon's commission on every sale regardless of fulfillment method — FBA, FBM or Seller Fulfilled Prime. Only the fulfillment fee is FBA-specific.
What is the 2026 fuel and logistics surcharge?
Effective April 2026, Amazon added a 3.5% surcharge on FBA fulfillment fees in the US and Canada (on the fee, not your price). On a $5.00 fulfillment fee that's about $0.18 per unit. The calculator includes it by default — uncheck the box to remove it.
How do I lower my FBA fulfillment fee?
Size tier is everything. Trimming packaging to drop from large standard to small standard can save $1–3 per unit. Also watch aged-inventory surcharges on slow stock and Q4 storage spikes.
Should I include PPC in my profit calculation?
Yes — enter your average ad spend per unit sold. A product with 30% gross margin and 25% TACOS is barely profitable, which is exactly what this calculator reveals.
